Good afternoon !

Before buying this mentionned scanner I need to know if Libsane
recognise it. I don't see any mention about it at
http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html#Z-EPSON.

All informations about this scanner at :

(US) :
https://epson.com/For-Work/Scanners/Desktop-Document/Epson-DS-1630-Flatbed-Color-Document-Scanner/p/B11B239201

(France) :
https://www.epson.fr/products/scanners/business-scanners/workforce-ds-1630#drivers

Thank you in advance for your help !

Have a nice day !

Regards,
Sab

Hi,Don't know about SANE but the US Epson website mentions that they have a Linux scanner driver for it (just in case if you are not aware of it).
I don't have any experience with it and they explicitly state that they do not provide support for it, which seems like a bit of a cop-out.So no guarantees of course. :(

..and search for the model.
Cheers,Ralph

Thanks for the follow-up Ralph.

If the EPSON download site says it's supported by their Image Scan V3,
you should be able to use it with any SANE frontend after installing
Image Scan V3.

In addition, there is a *chance* that it works (to some extent) with one
of the epsonds, epson2 and epson backends.

recognise it. I don't see any mention about it at
http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html#Z-EPSON.
That's because, unfortunately, EPSON does not provide information
linking model names to USB product IDs and SANE does not include third
party backend information in that page :-(

If EPSON provided the linking information, I'd be able to create a much
more useful utsushi.desc file. And if SANE added third party backends
to those pages, you'd actually be able to find it.

# We could do something about the latter though.

You won't find the DS-1630 there (yet?), but, FWIW, the utsushi.desc
info is at

http://www.sane-project.org/lists/sane-backends-external.html#S-UTSUSHI

If you can tell me the USB product ID for the DS-1630, I'll fix that
right away.

Hope this helps,

Hi Olaf and Ralph !

Thank you very much for your prompt answer.

The last one was the XP-435, supported by their Image Scan V3, too, but
XP-435 wasn't able to work properly with the SANE :( I had always to
install the drivers before using it. It was so upsetting that we
throught it away and bought a new Printer (Canon IP110) and now we are
looking for a scanner which works with Linux (Image Scan V3 doesn't run
properly in Linux and was enable to recognise this d.. scanner !!!).

As far as the WorkForce DS-1630 is concerned I've read that SANE doesn't
run with USB3 ? and in the french description (easier to read when we
are Frenches) I read that this one is just working with USB-3...

Have a nice day !
